I Know Who Killed Me (2007)

The Scoop : The movie revolves around Aubrey Fleming (Lohan), a young woman who is rescued after being abducted and tortured by a serial killer. When Fleming returns home, she claims to be someone else, raising questions as to whether she is suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder or if something more sinister is going on.

An enormous flop. Lohan’s recent drunk driving charge, and her constant public battle with alcohol and drugs, has left the public wanting…. less of Lindsay. The saving grace of “I know who killed me” is the sexually explicit scenes of lohan stripping, and in sexual circumstances. This will entice a few to the theatres, but most will wait for the DVD.

I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry (2007)

The Scoop : two straight, single Brooklyn firefighters (Sandler, James) pretend to be a gay couple in order to receive domestic partner benefits. Adam Sandler (Click) and Kevin James (Hitch) team as two straight guys who stumble down the aisle with the best of intentions in I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry. Chuck Levine (Sandler) and Larry Valentine (James) are the pride of their fire station: two guy’s guys always side-by-side and willing to do anything for each other. Salt-of-the-earth widower Larry wants just one thing: to protect his family. His buddy Chuck also wants one thing: to enjoy the single life.

Grateful Chuck owes Larry for saving his life in a fire, and Larry calls in that favor big time when civic red tape prevents him from naming his own two kids as his life insurance beneficiaries. All that Chuck has to do is claim to be Larry’s domestic partner on some city forms. Easy. Nobody will ever know.

But when an overzealous, spot-checking bureaucrat becomes suspicious, the new couple’s arrangement becomes a citywide issue and goes from confidential to front-page news. Forced to improvise as love-struck newlyweds, Chuck and Larry must now fumble through a hilarious charade of domestic bliss under one roof. After surviving their mandatory honeymoon and dodging the threat of exposure, the well-intentioned con men discover that sticking together in your time of need is what truly makes a family.

Hairspray (2007)

The Scoop : Tracy Turnblad , an overweight teenager with all the right moves, is obsessed with the Corny Collins Show. Every day after school, she and her best friend Penny run home to watch the show and drool over the hot Link Larkin (Zac Efron), much to Tracy’s mother Edna’s (John Travolta) dismay.

After one of the stars of the show leaves, Corny Collins holds auditions to see who will be the next person on the Corny Collins show. With all of the help of her friend Seaweed, Tracy makes it on the show, angering the evil dance queen Amber Von Tussle and her mother Velma.

Our Guess? Hairspray will be a huge success based off of the legendary musical. John Travolta is back to his original role as a lead male in a musical.

Rockaway (2007)

The Scoop : Trane returns from the war in Afghanistan as a hero. But there is no hero’s welcome awaiting him when he steps off the A-train onto the Rockaway Beach platform in Queens, New York. Instead, he finds a world he once called home now overrun by thugs and second-rate Russian mobsters. His own home, where his wife and child once resided, is now a brothel operated by Juju, a local thug, and Trane’s own sister Cari, a lost soul caught up in the ugliness that has taken over.

Trane retreats to the quiet beaches of Rockaway to try to make sense of this bizarre reality and stumbles upon Dave, a wise homeless man and acquaintance, who lives under the boardwalk. Dave informs Trane that the death of his wife and child were not simply a petty crime gone wrong but the actual workings of a complex faction of the criminal element that has a stranglehold on the community. It is because of Trane’s willingness to right the wrongs, and seek vengeance and retribution for the deaths of his family, that he sets out on a quest to find the men responsible and make things right again.

Joshua (2007)

The Scoop : A psychological thriller in which a successful young Manhattan family is torn apart when they discover 9-year-old Joshua has the power to make things come tumbling down.

With his affluent yuppie parents, brilliant and beatific Joshua Jacob Kogan) leads a loving and enriched life among the upper denizens of Manhattan. In his preppie sports coat, he’s a poster-boy child, precocious and way ahead of his gifted classmates. His family is loving, and he’s even got a brand-new baby sister, who, admittedly, grabs attention because she incessantly cries.

It’s a charmed household, enlivened by doting grandparents and a charismatic and musically talented uncle. Yet, like any normal family, there are fissures of discontent: The grandparents’ evangelical-Christian proselytizing annoys his free-thinking parents, in particular his Jewish mother, who is further frazzled by her daughter’s nonstop bawling. On the paternal side, Dad is under big-time pressure at his brokerage firm.

In the best Hitchcockean sense, we now see the affluent prosperity and the benign richness of the family’s life through more skeptical and sinister eyes. Things seem to be going awry, way beyond the bounds of normal family dynamics.

Notes : Often compared to The Sixth Sense, Joshua won an award at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival. A frightening thriller.. predicted to be one of the best this year.
